Instigator & Moderator

Wendy invited both the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Federation of Independent Business to sit down with the WISE 50 over 50 Awards and talk about their businesses and the challenges faced as older entrepreneurs.

Also invited and in attendance were Parliamentary Secretary, Sherry Romanado, to Senior’s Minister Tassi and Parliamentary Secretary, Richard Hébert to Small Business Minister Ng as well as other representatives from the Federal Government, and the Business Development Bank of Canada.

We were heard loud and clear. Everyone in attendance was impressed with our enthusiasm, passion, diversity of businesses and the successes older entrepreneurs are having.

I was the only female and non-tech participant on the panel. I was asked to provide my opinion on how older workers will relate and work in a robot world. I made it clear there will always be a need for our wisdom, experience and communication skills.

Workshop Facilitator – The Changing Demographic of Entrepreneurship

Wendy spoke and shared with attendees, the importance of older entrepreneurship and how Government leaders from around the world need to understand the word entrepreneur encompasses everyone and that older entrepreneurs need the same programs and services as young entrepreneurs.

Until that happens, it is up to us to guide this newest group of entrepreneurs by understanding their needs and putting workshops/programs in place.
